If you’ve searched for golf near Alaia Crossing, the honest answer starts with a course that isn’t there anymore.
Inwood Forest Golf & Country Club opened in 1968 on 226 acres along Antoine Drive, just north of West Little York Road, close to where Alaia Crossing sits today. It closed in 2007. The city bought the land in 2011, and it’s now the site of the Inwood Forest Regional Detention project, a flood-mitigation effort from Harris County Flood Control District, Houston Parks Board, and the City of Houston.
What’s There Now
Instead of fairways, the 226-acre site is being converted into a series of interconnected detention basins designed to reduce flood risk for thousands of homes in the area. Houston Parks Board is adding a greenway along Vogel Creek on top of it: trails, small parks, and exercise stations connecting Victory Drive to Arncliffe Drive.
Alaia Crossing lists access to this same 226-acre green space as one of its community amenities. So the golf course didn’t disappear from the neighborhood. It turned into flood protection and a walking trail right outside the gate.

Where to Actually Play Golf
If you do want to play, Melrose Golf Course is the closest public option: an 18-hole, par-3 course owned by the City of Houston at 401 E Canino Rd, a short drive from Alaia Crossing. It’s open to the public, no membership required.
More Than Golf
Northside Houston has parks, shopping, and quick access to I-45 and US-290 without the traffic you’d fight closer to downtown. Alaia Crossing itself is gated, so you’re coming home to a quieter street even with the greenway and detention project active next door.
For families with kids, having a growing trail system within walking distance means you don’t have to drive somewhere else for a good afternoon outside.
