The Hottest Spots New Residents Should Know
In the last several years, Houston has become one of the most popular US cities for foodies to explore. However, the North Houston area remains a bit of a hidden gem by comparison.
When we think of North Houston, the following comes to mind: gorgeous scenery, friendly neighborhoods, and a diverse range of cultures. With so much to discover, we recommend getting a full taste of what the city has to offer.

Soto’s Cantina
One of the joys of Houston is its massive Tex-Mex scene, offering an indulgent blend of flavors from Mexican and Texan-American cuisines. Soto’s is one of the most deserving of our spotlight. It brings fresh, authentic Tex-Mex cuisine to the table and provides a family-friendly environment to its guests. On top of that, the dining room is filled with wonderful Mexican artwork that makes for a fantastic ambiance. Our personal recommendation? Another round of fajitas and margs!
Mint Thai
If you’re more of an asian food fanatic, you’re in luck. Houston is well known for its massive population stemming from South Asia. We’re huge fans of Mint Thai Kitchen. Their dishes present a wonderful lightness, perfect for the days you’re in the mood for a quick bite instead of a heavy meal. They also have a range of spicy dishes as well, if you’re more inclined towards cranking up the heat! Pick us up some yellow curry during your next visit!

Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Look, sometimes all you want is a good burger to sink your teeth into. We get it! If that’s what floats your boat, you cannot sleep on Hopdoddy. If you’re in the mood for a half pound of American Wagyu, grass-fed patties, black-bean burgers, chicken, or ahi tuna, Hopdoddy will fork it over between a pair of scratch-made gluten-free buns. Of course, we’d be remiss in not also recommending some of their famous shareable fries (whether or not you intend to share them, that is)!
Campioni’s
It wouldn’t be a tour of global cuisines without including Italian! Campioni’s has been serving the North Houston community for over three decades while maintaining the same loving craft towards every dish every day. You can’t go wrong with their four-cheese cannelloni pasta, gourmet margherita pizza, or authentic Italian entrees like veal marvella. Make sure to save room for a toothsome order of tiramisu for dessert!

Fire Craft BBQ
Now, the moment we’ve been dreading…recommending our favorite BBQ spot in North Houston. We may as well try to rate the best grains of sand in the desert, but we’ll have to give the win to Fire Craft BBQ. Their pit-smoked meats are simply out-of-this-world. They sell meat by the pound and sides by the quart, so bring an empty stomach and a heavy appetite when you go!
