The Best Golfing Spots in Houston
Whether you’re a professional or more of a hobbyist, it’s no secret that golfing is more than just a sport, it’s a way of life! Golf represents bonding time, relaxation, opportunities to network, and a way to stay active and sharpen your mind. Thankfully, Houston is no stranger to golf. In fact, it is one of the best cities in the country for year-round golfing!
Start stretching and dial in those lag putts, because we’re going on a virtual tour of the most beloved courses, both public and private, that Houston has to offer.
Wildcat Golf Club
Starting off our list is the much beloved Wildcat Golf Club. This course offers full public access to its two 18-hole courses, as well as a clubhouse for players to rent out for private events. Wildcat has an engaging links style layout, 100-foot elevation changes, and beautiful scenery to match.
Formerly an oil field, the area has been reclaimed and renovated with lush greenery and nearby waterways. The scenery is one a kind, with historic oil pumps, left behind as a reminder of its history, and sweeping vistas of the Houston Skyline. Many of the professional athletes that call Houston home favor Wildcat for their golfing, so be on the lookout! And consider stopping by Vista Grille, the clubhouse bistro, after your game. Remember: the winner’s buying!

Memorial Park Golf Course
If you’re looking for a more affordable golf course with a touch of professional-level polish, Memorial Park Golf Course should be at the top of your list. Conveniently located just minutes from downtown, this historic course isn’t just a local favorite—it’s also the proud host of the PGA Tour for the Houston Open!
Originally opened over a century ago and recently renovated by famed architect Tom Doak, Memorial Park delivers a top-tier golfing experience for a more casual audience. The layout is walkable, the fairways are wide, and the natural scenery makes it one of Houston’s largest and most beloved green spaces. Whether you’re playing for the love of the game or just looking to unwind and connect with nature, Memorial Park brings the best of both worlds.
Cypresswood Golf Club
If you don’t mind venturing just a few minutes north of the city, Cypresswood Golf Club offers an experience that’s well worth the drive. This 36-hole public course gives you two distinct layouts: Tradition and Cypress, both of which offer the right amount of elevation and challenge. Bordered by Spring Creek and not far from the woodlands, Cypresswood offers the quiet atmosphere and scenery of a private club with the value of a daily-fee public course.
It’s also a frequent host of group tournaments, so be sure to check their website ahead of time if you’re feeling up to a bit of friendly competition!

Bluejack National
One of the most exclusive courses in Houston is Bluejack National. This relatively new course has quickly shot up to the top of many golfer’s bucket lists. Why? It is the first-ever American course designed by Tiger Woods.
The course originally on the site was closed in 2005 and sat dormant for ten years before the current owners saw the potential of the land and brought in the greatest golfer of all time to turn it into a world-class property. Don’t just take our word for it, Bluejack National was named the “Best New Private Course” by Golf Digest in 2016.
While it can be hard to secure a tee time here, the efforts are well worth it.
Golf Club of Houston
Last (but certainly not least) is a course that offers a perfect blend of luxury and professionalism. The Golf Club of Houston is, perhaps ironically, located in Humble, 20 minutes north of Houston proper. This club offers the amenities that pros and championship-level golfers dream of. Its challenging courses, personal fitness programs, private events, and more, are all exclusive and desirable parts of the experience. Don’t worry if you aren’t a full member, the Tournament Course is occasionally open for public play.
For nearby homeowners, being close to the Golf Club of Houston means more than access to top-tier golf; it opens up a lifestyle built around recreation, relaxation, and elevated living. It’s the kind of community where future clients and lifelong friends intersect.
